AIF-C01 · AWS

Taking AIF-C01 in Italian or German? What you need to know

AWS has announced a change to the Italian and German versions of AIF-C01, with a firm date. If you planned to sit it in either language, here is what changes and what stays the same.

AWS has put a dated notice on the certification page for AWS Certified AI Practitioner (AIF-C01): the exam in Italian and German "will be retired after October 15, 2026". Two localised versions are going away. The certification is not.

That distinction is the whole story, so it is worth being precise about it.

What actually changes

If you were planning to sit AIF-C01 in Italian or German, your window closes on 15 October 2026. After that date you book the same exam in one of the languages AWS still delivers it in, English among them. The score, the credential and the badge are identical either way; only the language of delivery is affected.

If you were always going to sit it in English, nothing about your booking changes.

What does not change: the objectives

This is the part worth checking rather than assuming, because a retirement notice on a certification page can easily read like a syllabus change. It is not one.

AWS keeps a revisions table for each exam guide, and the one for AIF-C01 still ends at version 1.1, published 30 April 2026, the same version we recorded when it landed, the one that put agentic AI on the exam. There is no row after it. Nothing in the objectives, the domain weightings or the in-scope service list moved on 15 October. The exam measures exactly what it measured yesterday.

So: a delivery change with a published date, and no content consequence.

The bit AWS does not tell you

The notice says what and when. It does not say why, and it does not appear anywhere with a changelog attached: the certification page is the only surface that carries it. That is normal for language availability, which AWS treats as a logistics detail rather than a versioned property of the exam. It also means the only way to notice is to read the page, which is what we do.

Worth knowing if you are in Italy or Germany and have been putting off the booking: the deadline is real, and it is five weeks out.
