Studying for SAA-C03? Read this before your next study session

AWS has published a new version of the SAA-C03 exam guide. Here is what changes in the service lists, what stays the same, and whether your study plan needs to move.

The SAA-C03 exam guide now has a revision table, and its latest entry is version 1.1, dated October 29, 2026. The change is small and specific: Amazon Elastic Transcoder leaves the list of in-scope services. The domains, their weights and the task statements do not change.

Version 1.0 of the guide is dated August 28, 2026. Before that, the guide carried no version history at all, and the objectives you study are still the ones in force since August 30, 2022.

What changes in the SAA-C03 exam guide

Version 1.1 touches only the two service lists at the end of the guide:

  • Removed from in-scope: Amazon Elastic Transcoder.
  • Removed from out-of-scope: AWS DeepComposer, Amazon DevOps Guru, Amazon Elastic Inference, Amazon Managed Blockchain and Amazon Sumerian.

Taking a service off the out-of-scope list does not bring it into the exam. Those five simply no longer appear in either list.

When the exam reflects it

AWS says guide updates are published about a month before the exam itself reflects them. If you sit SAA-C03 in the next few weeks, the change makes little practical difference: Elastic Transcoder was a minor item in the media services list, not a topic with its own objective.

Same date for AIF-C01

The AI Practitioner guide got a matching update. AIF-C01 version 1.2, also dated October 29, 2026, removes six services from its out-of-scope list: Amazon Elastic Transcoder, AWS Elemental MediaStore, AWS IoT 1-Click, AWS IoT Analytics, AWS IoT Events and Amazon Nimble Studio. Nothing is added to or removed from what the exam covers.

What to do with your study plan

Nothing urgent. Keep studying the four SAA-C03 domains as they are. If your notes include a card on Elastic Transcoder, you can drop it. We track every change to these guides on our update calendar, so you will see the next one there first.
