SnowPro Core COF-C03: where to put your study hours
One domain of SnowPro Core COF-C03 carries almost a third of the exam. Which one, how the exam is scored and delivered, and why its objectives date is hard to find.
The SnowPro Core Certification (COF-C03) validates practical, hands-on experience with the Snowflake AI Data Cloud. Snowflake describes the candidate as someone with six or more months of experience using Snowflake, although the exam has no formal prerequisites.
According to the certification page, the exam tests your ability to use the Snowflake architecture, manage accounts and virtual warehouses, load, unload and transform data, work with structured, semi-structured and unstructured data, monitor and optimize performance, enable data collaboration and protection, and establish connectivity.
What the exam measures
| Domain | Weight |
|---|---|
| 1.0 Snowflake AI Data Cloud Features & Architecture | 31% |
| 2.0 Account Management and Data Governance | 20% |
| 3.0 Data Loading, Unloading, and Connectivity | 18% |
| 4.0 Performance Optimization, Querying, and Transformation | 21% |
| 5.0 Data Collaboration | 10% |
Architecture alone is almost a third of the exam, and architecture plus performance is more than half. Data Collaboration has the smallest weight at 10%, but it still deserves study time.
Which version you will sit
The certification page we checked lists COF-C03 as the exam version. The page does not show an objectives date or a version changelog, and the linked study guide requires sign-in on Snowflake's training site. Our calendar therefore leaves the "objectives as of" date blank for this exam.
In practice, the exam code and the domain table are the two things you can check before booking. If your material uses different domains or weights, compare it with the current certification page before you book.
How the exam is scored and delivered
- Format: 100 questions in 115 minutes, multiple choice and multiple select.
- Unscored items: the exam may include unscored items, not identified on the form; the time allowed already accounts for them.
- Scoring: scaled from 0 to 1000, with 750 as the passing score.
- Delivery: online proctoring or an onsite testing center.
- Languages: English, Japanese, Korean, French and Spanish.
Where to put the effort
- Architecture, first and longest. At 31%, Snowflake AI Data Cloud Features & Architecture has the largest weight.
- Performance and querying. At 21%, study performance optimization, querying, and transformation.
- Accounts and governance. At 20%, study account management and data governance.
- Loading, unloading and connectivity. At 18%, study data loading, unloading, and connectivity.
- Collaboration. At 10%, study data collaboration.
The certification overview also lists working with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data as an exam ability, without assigning it to a domain.
A study plan that follows the domains
- List the five domains with their weights and give time in that order: architecture, performance and querying, accounts and governance, loading and connectivity, collaboration.
- Use the certification page's list of abilities as a checklist. Seven lines, each one a thing you should be able to do, not just describe.
- Practise in a Snowflake account. Snowflake's own description of the candidate is about hands-on experience, and the domains follow the tasks you would do in one.
- Recheck the domain table before you book. The certification page we checked does not show an objectives date, so compare the current domain names and weights with this table.
Every date we track for this and the other exams we cover is in the exam calendar.
